I'm Facu Alvarez -
a professional drummer from Argentina, now based in Melbourne, Australia. I’ve been playing live for over 15 years, and I’ve built my career around one simple goal: to show up prepared, read the charts, and make the music feel good.From 2017 to 2023, I worked as a show band drummer on various cruise lines, backing up production shows, guest entertainers, and big band sets across the world. That’s also where I learned the value of being rock-solid under pressure — and where I nearly lost my job for not sight-reading well enough. That experience pushed me to develop a method that completely changed how I approach reading — and later became my book, Sight Reading Method for Drummers.Since settling in Melbourne, I’ve been performing across the local scene — from theatre productions and festivals to pop shows, Latin gigs, weddings and corporate stages.Outside of ships and local gigs, I’ve co-produced music, written charts, and supported dozens of artists both live and in the studio. I’ve also built an international following through online lessons, blog posts, and sight-reading resources.These days, I spend less time teaching and more time doing what I love most: playing live music, sight-reading, and being the drummer other musicians can rely on.
