Hola! Espero que estés muy bien. Hoy tenemos la segunda parte de este cover de Bruno Mars. Se trata de un groove a lo James Brown con hits interesantes. Creo que tanto el groove tipo James Brown como los "seteos" anteriores a los hits son recursos muy útiles que todo baterista sesionista debería manejar.
La consigna es sencilla, pero puede llevar tiempo lograr fluidez y precisión. Como siempre te recomiendo contar en voz alta (negras, corcheas y semicorcheas), empezando bien lento e incrementando la velocidad progresivamente a medida que te sientas cómodo con lo que estás tocando.
Dedicate tiempo a los "seteos" que están antes de los hits en el "y" del "3" de los compases 5, 7, 9 y 11, es parte de nuestro rol como bateristas que esos fills sean sencillos y concisos con el fin de preparar al resto de la banda para lograr que los hits sean bien tocados a tempo y ajustados por toda la banda. Hi there! I hope all is good. Today we have the second part of "Runaway Baby" live by Bruno Mars. There is a breakdown towards the end where the band plays this James Brown type of groove plus some interesting hits. I believe every session drummer should have this groove in the pocket.
The thing is pretty simple, but it might take a while to achieve a consistent groove, sound and precision. So as always I recommend you to start practicing as slow as you need, counting at loud (quarters, eighths and sixteenths), and increasing the tempo as you get comfortable with what you are playing.
Put some time into the Set-Ups before the hits on the"and" of "3" on bars 5, 7, 9 and 11. It's a big part of our rol as drummers to play those fills and keep them simple so then the whole band can play the hits nice and tight (there is some more about setting up the band on my previous post).
